WORLDMUSIC OASIS
Worldmusic Oasis was launched by Said and his wife Eva in the beginning of the 1990s and became the second biggest music store in Sweden after Muktikulti in Stockholm. Referred to by one customer as an oasis of world music, Worldmusic Oasis served the entire country of Sweden for many years before the internet made it easier for people to have the records they wanted delivered to their mailbox
THE STORE
Our global network of contacts enables us to offer music from both major record companies and independent labels. We pride ourselves on providing music from both established and emerging artists, including those featured on the latest world music charts. Our store showcases music from over 100 countries, available in various formats including CDs, LPs, and videos. We distribute a wide range of prestigious world music labels such as Real World, Sonodisc, Melodie, Hemisphere, Piranha, World Circuit, Sonima, Putumayo, Earthworks, Buda Records, Virgin, and many more.
CLUB BARBÉS
Worldmusic Oasis - Said has provided clubs, radio stations, DJ's, festivals, etc, with records for many years before he started the Club Barbès with Andreas and Musikens Hus in Gothenbrg.
The club has received many bands, artists, and Djs. Tinariwen (Mali), Skatalites (Jamaica), Les Boukakes (France), Alpha Omega (UK), Darga (Morocco), Orchestre National de Barbès (France - Algeria), Mahala Rai Banda (Romania), Don Carlos (Jamaica), Nomad Sound System (Germany), Nuru Kane (Senegal), Vusi Mahlasela (South Africa), Sierra Leone refugees All-stars, Joujouka ( Morocco), Tamikrest ( Mali ), Les filles de Tilligadad, Mdou Moctar are some of the many guests.
DJ Said
Said, as a Dj, has been a resident DJ at VÄRLDENS BAR (Göteborgs Stadsteater), VÄRLDEN I KONSERTHUSET (Göteborgs Konserthus) & FREKVENS (Storan). He has been performing the last 15 years as support for many artists as the king of Rai – Khaled, Amadou & Mariam, Tinariwen, Los de Abajo, L´Orchestre National de Barbés, Musafir, Natacha Atlas, Cheb Sahraoui, Houari Dauphin, Toumani Diabaté, Mahala Rai Banda, Lura, Vusi Mahlasela, Nuru Kane, Skatalites, Habib Koité, Les Boukakés, Badi Assad, Bassekou Kouyaté, Tamikrest, Joujouka and many private parties.
